We are Lightning! We are AWESOME!! Art Smith Aviation Academy (ASAA) is an alternative program school within Northern Lights Public Schools, located at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Canada’s largest fighter base. The Academy offers K-9 education in English and K-6 education in French Immersion. Supported by the Canadian Forces and Department of National Defence, ASAA’s aviation program benefits from the experience and mentorship of military personnel, who serve as positive role models for students. The school is also partnered with the Military Families Support Society (MFSS), which manages the lease of our building and supports the academy's financial stability through donations. ASAA is named after Art Smith, a WWII Spitfire pilot, decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, and a notable figure in Alberta’s aerospace industry. He also served as an MP, MLA, and Honorary Colonel of 4 Wing Cold Lake. Art Smith’s legacy inspires our students to aim high.
